What is Zumbini?

Zumbini is an early childhood development program focused on movement and music for children ages 0 to 5 years.

Class is fun, energetic, and full of contemporary music with world beats. It is child-appropriate, grown-up friendly, and of course, full of the “Zumba” flavor. Children learn to dance, sing, and move through the class using their bodies, rhythmic instruments, and scarves, to enhance the rhythm and feel of the music.

All of the Zumbini music is original, refreshing, and sure to get our children wiggling and giggling!    

Music

Music has been shown to be one of the most effective ways to acquire a second language naturally. Children tend to be attracted to different sounds, rhythms, and musical instruments. By playing these instruments and following rhythms, children develop their minds, language, and body together.

Through sing-alongs, repetition, and musical storytelling, children are prompted by the teacher to speak about the stories being told through songs. Children learn the traditional, classic, and heartfelt songs that have been passed down from generation to generation throughout Latino America and Spain.

Arts and Crafts

Art allows children to express themselves in a creative way exploring new textures, colors, and artistic techniques. EDPC experience a wide range of expressive and sensory media such as sand, water, clay, tempra paints, watercolors, collage, and more.

Creative/Imaginative Play Time

An atmosphere of work permeates the room when children are busy at free play. Play is the work of the child. They are learning to develop a rich imagination, which will serve their reading comprehension as they take words on the page and transform them into narrative memory. They are also learning to compromise with their peers, communicate their desires, carry tasks to completion, and problem-solve with others. These are some of the last years for them to really hone these essential skills, which will deepen and guide their academic lives throughout grade school.

Edible Garden and Cooking

Through our gardening curriculum, we learn about seasons, which vegetables and fruits grow better at different times of the year, and then they get to experience new flavors and tastes when they try the food from their own harvest making this a full sensory experience.

Math and Science

Through the use of manipulatives, games, projects, and experiments, children learn basic principles of math and the scientific process. Learning these concepts will help prepare them to think critically and logically for our future world problems. Your preschooler will learn how to count, finds, and form shapes and patterns, measure, and sorts, categorizes, and compares objects, and interacts with and learns about nature.

Dance and Yoga

Movement is another creative expression where students are encouraged to use their imagination and develop coordination. Through dance, we introduce students to different cultures, music, and traditions. Through yoga, children learn mindfulness and meditation which is key to a child's emotional regulation.

Daily Life Skills and Social-Emotional Learning

As preschoolers interact with each other, learning to share, take turns, and work together, they begin to build their social skills and learn how to be successful students and individuals. We promote independence while also working in groups, sharing, and taking turns. Children will learn to clean up and helps organize the classroom, practice manners during meal and snack time, develop conflict resolution skills. These practices help develops communication, conversation, and listening skills.
